Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Norovirus is currently experiencing a significant surge across the United States, with case numbers higher now than they’ve been at the same time in more than a decade.Time
In early December 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 91 outbreaks in a single week, the highest number for that period since 2012. Business Insider
This increase is partly attributed to the emergence of a new strain, GII.17[P17], which accounted for nearly 70% of cases from September to December 2024.Health
Norovirus is highly contagious, causing symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and stomach pain, typically lasting one to three days. It spreads through direct contact with infected individuals, contaminated food or water, and surfaces. Preventive measures include thorough handwashing with soap and water, as alcohol-based sanitizers are ineffective against the virus, and disinfecting surfaces with a diluted bleach solution.Verywell Health
