Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has signaled a forthcoming retaliatory strike against Israel in response to the Israeli airstrikes on October 26, 2024, which targeted Iranian military sites and resulted in the deaths of four Iranian soldiers.(New York Post)
Iranian and Arab officials have described the planned retaliation as “strong and complex,” potentially involving more powerful warheads and a broader range of weapons. There are indications that the attack could be launched from Iraqi territory, targeting Israeli military facilities more aggressively than previous assaults.(New York Post)
The timing of Iran’s response appears to be influenced by the U.S. presidential election, with plans to execute the attack after the November 5 election but before the January inauguration. This strategy aims to avoid impacting the election outcome, as Iranian officials have expressed a preference for Kamala Harris over Donald Trump.(New York Post)
In anticipation of potential Iranian actions, the United States has bolstered its military presence in the Middle East, deploying B-52 bombers, fighter jets, and naval destroyers to deter further escalation. U.S. officials have warned Iran of severe consequences should it proceed with attacks against Israel or American interests.(New York Post)
Ayatollah Khamenei has vowed a “tooth-breaking” response to Israel and the United States, emphasizing Iran’s readiness to retaliate for the recent Israeli strikes.(Fox News)
