Dear Friends & Neighbors,

On September 17, 2024, a series of coordinated explosions involving communication pagers rocked Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people, including Hezbollah members, and injuring over 2,700 others, with more than 200 critically wounded. The blasts occurred in Hezbollah strongholds such as Beirut’s southern suburbs, southern Lebanon, and the Beqaa Valley. Hezbollah has accused Israel of orchestrating the attack, describing it as a “criminal aggression.” The group vowed retaliation against Israel for this incident.
The explosions appear to have targeted pagers newly acquired by Hezbollah. It is speculated that these devices were sabotaged, possibly with small explosives hidden inside, which led to their detonation. Lebanese authorities and Hezbollah have placed blame on Israel, though Israel has not officially commented on the matter. The United Nations has expressed concern about the potential for escalation in the region following this incident( Wikipedia)(WUSF )(DW).
