What Does Rare Blue Moon & SuperMoon Mean?
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
Here is the image of the supermoon in a clear night sky. I hope it captures the awe-inspiring beauty you’re looking for! Yes, there will only be one moon in the sky on August 31, 2024. The term “blue moon” refers to the second full moon within a single calendar month, not an additional or separate moon in the sky. It is a rare occurrence because typically, there is only one full moon per month. So, while the full moon on August 31, 2024, is called a “blue moon,” it is still the same moon we see every night. The “blue moon” designation is purely based on the calendar and does not imply the presence of more than one moon.(Source: AI generated, by ChatGPT, Attribution: prompted by MathladySusan, Presented at: WindermereSun.com)

In 2024, there are two significant lunar events to look forward to: a “supermoon” and a “blue moon.”
Supermoon:
A supermoon occurs when the full moon is at its closest point to Earth in its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter in the sky. In 2024, there are expected to be multiple supermoons, with the most notable ones occurring on August 19 and September 18.
Blue Moon:
A blue moon is the term used to describe the second full moon in a calendar month. In 2024, the blue moon will occur on August 31. Since this blue moon is also a supermoon, it will be a particularly special event. This makes August 2024 an exciting month for lunar enthusiasts, with both a supermoon and a blue moon happening within the same month.
