The 2024 Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place from August 19 to August 22, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois. The primary venue for the convention will be the United Center, with additional activities held at McCormick Place. The event will host between 5,000 and 7,000 delegates from all 50 states and U.S. territories, and it’s expected to attract around 50,000 visitors to the city.
This year’s convention will focus on uniting the Democratic Party around its presidential and vice-presidential nominees, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, respectively. The convention will highlight the party’s achievements and outline the stakes of the upcoming election, aiming to rally support for the Democratic ticket.
Security for the event is a significant concern, with $50 million in federal funds allocated for this purpose, marking it as a National Special Security Event. Additionally, there may be protests related to various issues, including U.S. foreign policy.
The event is expected to be a major political moment, showcasing the party’s platform and strategies as they head into the 2024 presidential election (Wikipedia) (Ballotpedia) (Democratic National Convention).
