Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach has filed a lawsuit against Pfizer, accusing the pharmaceutical company of misleading the public regarding the safety and effectiveness of its COVID-19 vaccine. The lawsuit, filed in the District Court of Thomas County, alleges that Pfizer made false claims about the vaccine being “safe and effective” while concealing information about serious adverse events such as myocarditis, pericarditis, failed pregnancies, and deaths.
The lawsuit further claims that Pfizer misrepresented the vaccine’s effectiveness by not disclosing that its efficacy waned over time and did not adequately protect against COVID-19 variants. Additionally, the complaint accuses Pfizer of misleading the public into believing that the vaccine could prevent transmission of the virus, despite later admissions that this had not been studied.
The state of Kansas alleges that these actions violated the Kansas Consumer Protection Act, and the lawsuit seeks accountability for what it characterizes as intentional misrepresentations by Pfizer, which allegedly led to significant financial gain for the company during the pandemic.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Pfizer, accusing the company of misrepresenting the effectiveness of its COVID-19 vaccine and conspiring to suppress public discourse about it. The lawsuit claims that Pfizer’s statements about the vaccine’s 95% efficacy were misleading and that the company concealed information about the vaccine’s waning protection. Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that Pfizer worked to censor critics and “silence truth-tellers” who questioned the vaccine’s performance. The lawsuit seeks more than $10 million in fines for these alleged violations.
