Dr. Ray Dorsey Believes Parkinson’s Disease & Alzheimer’s Are Preventable
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

(Please click on red links & note magenta)
Among many neurologists or brain doctors, there is a school of thought that Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer are caused by environmental factors.
In May 2024, the U.S. Congress passed the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act, which was subsequently signed into law by President Joe Biden. This landmark legislation represents the first federal initiative focused on preventing, curing, and managing Parkinson’s disease. The act aims to significantly boost federal research funding, improve early diagnosis, develop more effective treatments, and address health disparities in treatment and clinical trial participation.
The bill also mandates the creation of the National Parkinson’s Project, which will be overseen by a federal advisory council composed of experts from various sectors. This council will provide recommendations and guidance to the Department of Health and Human Services on how to advance the fight against Parkinson’s disease. This initiative is modeled after the National Alzheimer’s Project Act, which has successfully increased funding and improved care for Alzheimer’s patients since its enactment in 2011.
The passage of this bill is seen as a historic milestone for the Parkinson’s community, with organizations like the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Parkinson’s Foundation playing crucial roles in its advocacy and support (Parkinson’s Foundation) (Parkinson’s Foundation) (Fox Parkinson’s Research) (McKnight’s Long-Term Care News).
Dr. Ray Dorsey reminds all consumers that our voices are important and American citizens’ voice in wanting to truly address the issue of Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer need to be heard in order to be able to truly eliminate much of the environmental factors contributing to the cause of the problem.
