Yes, the year 2024 is a leap year. Leap years occur every four years to help synchronize the calendar year with the solar year, or the length of time it takes the Earth to complete its orbit around the sun, which is about 365.242 days. The extra day is added to the calendar in February, which has 29 days in a leap year instead of the usual 28. Leap years are typically those that can be evenly divided by 4. However, years that are divisible by 100 are not leap years unless they can also be evenly divided by 400. For example, 1900 was not a leap year, but 2000 was. Since 2024 can be evenly divided by 4, it qualifies as a leap year.
