As NASA’s Webb telescope scours the universe to find light from the first stars and galaxies, it is also capturing the universe like never before. Scott Pelley got an inside look at Webb’s new discoveries, in the video published on April 9, 2023, by 60 Minutes, as “NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope: Stunning new images captured of the universe| 60 Minutes“, below:
For key goals of James Webb Space Telescope, please click HERE or in italics, below:
The James Webb Space Telescope has four key goals:
- to search for light from the first stars and galaxies that formed in the universe after the Big Bang
- to study galaxy formation and evolution
- to understand star formation and planet formation
- to study planetary systems and the origins of life[156]
These goals can be accomplished more effectively by observation in near-infrared light rather than light in the visible part of the spectrum. For this reason, Webb’s instruments will not measure visible or ultraviolet light like the Hubble Telescope, but will have a much greater capacity to perform infrared astronomy. Webb will be sensitive to a range of wavelengths from 0.6 to 28 μm (corresponding respectively to orange light and deep infrared radiation at about 100 K or −173 °C).
Webb may be used to gather information on the dimming light of star KIC 8462852, which was discovered in 2015, and has some abnormal light-curve properties.[157]
Additionally, it will be able to tell if an exoplanet has methane in its atmosphere, allowing astronomers to determine whether or not the methane is a biosignature.[158][159]

Michio Kaku Breaks Silence on The Terrifying Image By James Webb Telescope That Changes Everything. Michio Kaku just shared a stunning discovery made by the James Webb Space Telescope that changed everything we know about the cosmos. JWST has just spotted six gargantuan galaxies each roughly the size of our own Milky Way, in the video published on April 17, 2023, by LAB 360, as “Michio Kaku Breaks Silence on The Terrifying Image By James Webb Telescope That Changes Everything“, below:
Neil deGrasse Tyson Breaks Silence on James Webb Telescope’s Shocking New Image! Michio Kaku and Neil deGrasse Tyson weigh in on the latest image captured by the James Webb Space Telescope. A shocking discovery of ancient, massive galaxies, that forces the science community to rethink everything we know about the cosmos and our understanding of it. Yes, even the big bang theory, in the video published on April 18, 2023, by Territory, as “Neil deGrasse Tyson Breaks Silence On James Webb Telescope’s Shocking New Image!“, below:
Once again a JWST result has been misunderstood and twisted into something it’s not on social media. In this video we’re chatting about what astronomers have found, how they found these galaxies, and what that means for our understanding of the Universe, in the video published on March 9, 2023, by Dr. Becky, as “JWST has found MASSIVE galaxies in the early Universe which we can’t explain“, below:
