SpaceX test fired 31 of the 33 engines in the towering rocket booster of its Starship prototype Thursday, Feb 9, 2023. It was the last key test before the company launches the rocket to orbit for the first time, in the video published on Feb 10, 2023, by CNBC Television, as “SpaceX successfully test fires Starship boosters in key step before first orbital launch“, below:

SpaceX Starship development began in 2012, when Elon Musk, CEO of American aerospace company SpaceX, first publicly described a high-level plan to build a reusable rocket system with substantially greater capabilities than the Falcon 9 and the (then- planned) Falcon Heavy. The rocket evolved through many design and name changes. On July 25, 2019, the Starhopper prototype performed the first successful flight at SpaceX Starbase near Boca Chica, Texas.[1] The SN15 prototype rocket was the first full size test spacecraft to take off and land successfully, in May 2021.[2]

Elon Musk’s SpaceX company has performed a key test on its huge new rocket system, Starship. Engineers conducted a “static fire”, simultaneously igniting 31 out of 33 of the engines at the base of the vehicle’s lower-segment. The firing lasted only a few seconds, with everything clamped in place to prevent any movement. Starship will become the most powerful operational rocket system in history when it makes its maiden flight, in the video published on Feb 10, 2023, by BBC News, as “Elon Musk’s SpaceX tests Starship, most powerful ever rocket system – BBC News“, below:
