China’s former leader Jiang Zemin, who came to power after the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, has died aged 96. One of the major figures of Chinese history in recent decades, he presided over a time where China opened up on a vast scale and saw high-speed growth. A Chinese Communist Party statement said he died of leukaemia and multiple organ failure. It added that he was recognised “as an outstanding leader with high prestige” and “a long-tested Communist fighter”, in the video published on Nov. 30, 2022, by BBC News, as “Former Chinese leader Jiang emin dies aged 96 – BBC News“, below:

Jiang Zemin, the Chinese communist leader who paved the way for the country’s emergence as a global superpower, has died, state-run Xinhua news agency announced. He was 96, in the video published on Nov. 30, 2022, by CNN, as “Former Chinese leader who made country global superpower dies at 96“, below:
A number of mainstream Western media outlets have given Jiang considerable praise, for example crediting him for having guided and paved the way for China’s rise. This shows that the Western world has an inadequate understanding of this former CCP leader. In reality, China’s plummeting economy, unstable society, as well as faltering CCP regime, were all rooted in the days of this former party leader. After Xi Jinping came to power in 2012, the factional struggle between Xi and Jiang has been the focus of the political situation. The current Communist Party leader Xi is known as the “Chief Accelerator” to end the CCP, the communist party’s exit from the historical stage. In this winter of 2022, a white paper movement is sweeping China, along with the news of the death of Jiang. This might be an opportunity for Xi. He could choose to stand on the side of the white paper and make a difference, or to go with the Communist Party till the end of its demise. Which way would he choose? Have questions?
