On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, building collapses at Daytona Beach Shores as hurricane Nicole approaches Florida. The road near the building can also be seen deteriorating rapidly. Local authorities reported that many buildings along Daytona Beach’s shores had previous damage from Hurricane Ian and are now in more jeopardy of serious damage from the incoming storm. Officials are trying to evacuate people from the Daytona Beach Shores area by 4 pm Wednesday, November 9, 2022, and Volusia County has a mandatory evacuation by 10 am on Wednesday for residents. Hurricane Nicole will continue to track westward toward the east coast of Florida during the day, with anticipated landfall near north Palm Beach County late Wednesday and into early Thursday morning, November 1, 2022. Flagler, Volusia and Brevard counties are expected to see winds reaching 50 to 80 mph with 4 to 8 inches of rain. A storm surge warning remains in effect for the entirety of east Central Florida coast, for the potential of 3-5 feet of surge above ground level and as much as 6 feet in spots. According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Nicole has maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour with higher gusts. The massive storm’s winds are already reaching the Tampa Bay region.
