It’s the only road and rail link between the Crimean peninsula and Russia, the Kerch Bridge or Crimean Bridge: a vital artery for military supplies to its soldiers occupying the region and fighting in southern Ukraine, was blown up. On October 8, 2022, at 6:07 am local time, a large explosion occurred on the roadway leading from Russia to Crimea, starting a large fire and causing parts of the road bridge to collapse. Neither Ukraine nor NATO have released an official statement on the incident. Senior Ukrainian officials previously stated that the bridge would be a legitimate target for a missile strike.
