Peiter Zatko, aka “Mudge”, testifies in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on September 13, 2022, at 7:00 am PT (10:00 am ET) regarding the Twitter (social media platform) leadership misleading the public, lawmakers, regulators, and Twitter’s own board of directors, regarding its data security. On August 23, 2022, the contents of a whistleblower complaint – by former Information Security head Peiter Zatko – to the United States Congress were published.
The complaint alleges Twitter has made multiple violations of United States securities regulations, the Federal Trade Commission Act of 1914, and a 2011 enforceable consent decree reached with the Federal Trade Commission after several issues between 2007 and 2010.[144]
The whistleblower also alleged that Twitter gave Indian government direct unsupervised access to the company’s systems and user data.[145]

In essence, this Senate hearing has demonstrated that, with regard to regulators, Twitter is allowed to grade its own homework. Total self-regulation does not work!
