Just received message from IDEAS For Us, announcing some of their upcoming events in September, 2022, below:
Did you know about the IDEAS For Us here in Central Florida, a 501(C)3 non-profit based in Orlando, Florida, with focus in areas of: Energy, Water, Food, Waste, and Ecology?
The film “This is the IDEAS Hive” is an educational and entertaining display of how leaders in the Central Florida community come together regularly to take action and create solutions to environmental challenges. “The IDEAS Hive” which began in Orlando, Florida is a program of the non-profit organization, IDEAS for Us and has spread to communities around the world, engaging communities and sharing best practices for a better world, in the video published on May 14, 2018, “This is the IDEAS Hive“, below:
It all starts with a free consultation. Tell us your garden goals and we’ll do all the heavy lifting. Our team builds professional raised bed gardens perfect for any home, complete with a custom soil blend, plant starts, and automatic irrigation. If you have a small yard or no yard, we offer vertical planters as an alternative. Additional services include native pollinator gardens, fruit trees, sheet mulching, recurring maintenance, and more, in the video published on Nov 2, 2021, “Edible Landscapes – Grow Food at Home!“, below:
Every month, IDEAS For Us branches around the world host an event called The IDEAS Hive, an interdisciplinary, inter-generational community Think + Do Tank designed to educate the public about sustainability and develop their ideas into local action projects. IDEAS connects communities with a sustainability professional in an engaging, educational event focused on one of our focus areas of energy, water, food, waste, and ecology. Then, each Hive event is met with direct eco-action projects open for the community to engage in. This includes renewable energy trainings, shoreline restorations, tree plantings, urban agriculture projects, and more!
IDEAS Hive: Protecting Florida’s Water
Florida is home to some of the most unique and biodiverse water bodies in North America. This does not go without its challenges. From issues relating to our Middle St. Johns Basin, the Ocklawaha, and the Central Florida Water Initiative, the St. Johns RIVERKEEPERS are working to combat the water crisis we are facing in Central Florida. Hear from Gabbie Milch as she discusses the rule making process in the world of water conservation, covering pollutant monitoring, water supply planning, and the Free the Ocklawaha Campaign. Join IDEAS Hive in learning and brainstorming solutions on water issues in our community!
Details: September 7th, 6:45pm-8:15pm, Center for Health and Wellbeing

Garden Installation at STEPS
Food sovereignty is an essential step in climate action, this includes education and accessibility to growing. We are working to provide these resources to individuals in need by installing gardens in communities that are vulnerable. Join IDEAS For us in installing a food garden at STEPS Apopka, the rehab facility for women coming out of drug and alcohol abuse.
This will be fun and physically taxing labor. We will learn how to build a garden and grow food in the process from our Edible Landscapes experts. Make sure to sign up to receive more information!
