If we can all just keep our sanity and be rational, reasonable, and not fall into the trap of extremism or conflicts, there will be a future of creativity and abundance awaiting for all of us. Among many of the future possibilities, how would you like to wake up surrounded by natural beauty and amazing views that you can change whenever you want? Those are just some of the many benefits of owning a modern, luxury houseboat, in the video published on July 26, 2022, “Incredible Houseboats and Future Floating Homes on Water“, click below:
Jérémie Malvy bought an old cargo riverboat for 11,000 euros and then spent two years remaking it into a light and plant-filled modern home. For Malvy, the home – now docked on the Seine on the outskirts of Paris – is another step on his journey from his home in Pakistan to France. It began a couple decades ago when Malvy arrived in Paris with no resources and no words of French, so he lived on the street – often under bridges of the Seine – and spoke to the river. After finding success with a chain of organic grocery cooperatives and restaurants, he decided to build his dream home from a retired cargo boat that once carried grains. Not wanting to lose his strong connection to the river, he remade the boat with an all-glass front and only plants between his living room and the water. The downstairs is half-buried in water, which provides excellent acoustics and insulation; it also provides an eye-level view of the water (and the ability to open a window and touch the river). Today, Malvy lives aboard full-time with his wife Sara and the entire home is filled with plants. Malvy says this constant connection with water and nature means that once he steps aboard all his stress floats away within minutes. Renamed Panjab (Punjab) for Malvy’s home region in Pakistan, the boat no longer has an engine, but if the couple ever wanted to move it they could simply get a tug, in the video published on June 27, 2022, “Turns abandoned cargo boat into modern home gem (before/after)“, click below:

Simon has transformed this derelict sailboat into an epic off-grid solar-powered and fossil-fuel free cruising catamaran. He’s been living aboard and renovating the boat for the past 3.5 years We’re excited to show you the transformation as well as how he plans to propel the boat without the use of diesel or fossil fuels! Shadow built this incredible floating island with salvaged and reclaimed materials. The island comprises a 2-story float home, a floating chicken coop, floating gardens, and even a floating compost shed! He’s been living on the water for 17 years and working hard to protect the Widgeon Slough area in BC, Canada. He gathers wood from the river to use as firewood, he grows some of his own fresh food in barrel gardens, and he collects fresh water from a nearby spring. He filters his greywater on a floating raft with multiple plant and husk filtration layers, and he composts his food and human waste to ensure that nothing goes overboard. Freedom Cove is a rare and very special place. It’s a man-made floating island that acts as a homestead, an art installation, and a home to Catherine and Wayne in Tofino, BC, Canada. The project started with a small float home that was built using wood that had washed ashore after a storm, and since moving into it in 1992, they’ve gradually added new buildings, greenhouses, and an outdoor dance floor to create a fully off-grid, floating homestead where they can grow most of their own food, earn a living as artists, and reduce their environmental footprint. They have used as much reclaimed material as possible, including the flotation technology that has been discarded from nearby fish farms over the years. The site where they chose to settle in was chosen specifically because it had a fresh water source above sea level so they could have gravity fed water, and because the cove provided protection from winter storms. They use a mix of solar panels, a generator, propane and firewood for their various energy needs, and they have a new microbial wastewater system that will allow them to fully purify their waste. Before that, they had a tank that could be emptied in open water like most boats and vessels do. Catherine King and Wayne Adams are artists and carvers who make beautiful work and showcase some of it in their floating gallery, in the video published on Dec 17, 2019, “27 YEARS Living Off-Grid on a Self-Built Island Homestead“, click below:
A woodworking wizard named Richard built the Koroc – a beautiful floating tiny house RV on aluminum pontoons. It’s unbelievable what a comfortable home he’s created in such a small space. Imagine living in this micro cabin, floating on a river or a lake, and enjoying fresh air on an enormous deck? If you can’t tell already, we’re in love with this boat! If you want to learn more about Richard’s beautiful boat, you can check out his website here: http://daigno.ca/en/home.html We randomly drove past this houseboat in Montebello, Quebec, Canada on our way to pick up some RV windows so we emailed the owner and asked him if we could take a tour inside and have him put it in the water for us. Luckily he said yes! We spent a beautiful sunny afternoon on Le Koroc (built by Richard’s company Daigno) admiring his handy work. Everything in this house boat is built by hand, from the beams to the cabinets, the deck, water filter, bathroom, kitchen and more. Richard has a solar panel for electricity, a Martin propane heater, a propane cooktop, a DIY carbon filter for filtering grey water, a self-contained toilet, two dinettes (one that converts into a double bed), and tons of windows, not to mention the huge deck. It’s off-grid minimalist living paradise! If you want to learn more about Richard’s beautiful house boat, you can check out his website here: http://daigno.ca/en/home.html Or get in touch with him by email here: richard@daigno.ca , in the video published on June 13, 2018, “Woodworker Builds The Perfect Tiny House Boat for Life on the Water“, click below:
