Even though wherever I go, people seem to have left the memory of COVID behind, but its subvariants are still very much present among us. COVID cases are on the rise in more than 100 countries. The latest subvariant of the Omicron family, BA.4 & BA.5 subvariants, already made its way through Portugal and South Africa, is making its way to United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and United States, in the video published on July 5, 2022, “BA.5 causes more severe disease“, below:
The Omicron variant dominates the infections. Its two main mutations, known as B-point-four and B-point-five, are harder to track and resistant to vaccines. The next few months will see an increase in global travel, as millions take their summer holidays. And that’s likely to increase the spread of COVID-19. Those in the pandemic-hit tourism industry were hoping to recover this season, as restrictions began to ease in many places. Italy has extended the rule of using mask on public transport until the end of September. Germany and Ireland are thinking about making mask wearing mandatory in few moths. China continues with strict COVID control. But that could change. The head of the World Health Organization says the pandemic is not over. What should we expect? In the video published on July 3, 2022, “What’s behind the rise in COVID-19 cases?|Inside Story“, below:
BA.5, the newest COVID subvariant of the omicron family, comes with a new problem. BA.5 subvariant is contagious and resistant to vaccine immunity as well as to natural immunity, in the video published on July 4, 2022, “New BA.5 COVID Subvariant: What to Know“, below:
BA4 and BA5 Omicron variants are being shown to be more infectious even if you have had a previous COVID infection, in the video published on July 1, 2022, “New COVID variants increasing chance of super spreader events this 4th of July“, below:
Elizabeth cook reports on the increase risk of ‘long COVID’ that comes with the Omicron variant, and the neurological symptoms that have researchers stumped, in the video published on June 28, 2022, “Breakthrough Omicron variant infections increase risk of mysterious ‘long COVID’“, below:
Scientists in Canada and around the world are trying to solve a COVID-19 mystery — why have some people never tested positive, despite being exposed? And could they be genetically resistant to the virus? In the video published on June 28, 2022, “COVID-19 mystery: Why some people get it and others don’t“, below:
Until scientists have fully discovered the cells or genetic component responsible for the immunity to COVID and its subvariants, let’s continue to wear masks and observe social distancing.
