The latest shooting took place in Tulsa, OK, on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital. The 45 year old shooter Michael Louis had a back surgery at this hospital by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Preston Phillips in May of 2022. But when the pain had become unbearable for Michael Louis post-surgery, he blamed the man who operated on him, Dr. Preston Phillips. Police said Louis fatally shot two orthopedic surgeons (including Dr. Preston Phillips), a medical receptionist, a bystander, and then himself at the medical office in the Natalie Medical Building near St. Francis Hospital on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, around 4:50 pm, after he purchased the AR-15 style rifle from a local gun store on the same day around 2:00 pm. Then he took the AR-15 rifle along with a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun he bought on Sunday, May 29, 2022, there from an area pawn shop. Police arrived on the scene within 4 minutes after receiving the 911 call. At 4:58 pm, just 39 seconds after the police entered the Natalie Building, there was the last gunshot which police believe was Louis shooting himself. Dr. Phillips was found dead in an exam room in the Warren Clinic Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine on the second floor. Oklahoma authorities on Thursday detailed the events leading up to Wednesday’s deadly shooting at a medical building on a hospital campus in Tulsa. The gunman, who died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, targeted a doctor whom he blamed for ongoing pain after back surgery, police said. The fact that Michael Louis killed four people and himself within 3 hours of purchasing an AR-15 style rifle from a local gun store and within 3 days of purchasing a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun from a pawn shop screams out the need for background check for criminal, mental health, as well as physical health of any purchaser of any gun from any gun store, pawn shop, or gun show. Not having these restrictions is simply irresponsible for any civilized society! We, as American voters, should not tolerate these conditions conducive toward the Wild Wild West environment being set up, nor should we accept these conditions as being normal for America is the only developed nation on planet earth with such an atrocious record for mass shootings!
