Fallout over Florida’s controversial new law that critics have called the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill continues. Florida’s Republican governor Ron DeSantis is now lashing out at Disney, one of the state’s biggest tourism drivers, over the company’s opposition to the law, suggesting a repeal of the corporation’s special status. The Morning Joe panel discusses, in the video published on April 7, 2022, “‘A Solution In Search Of A Problem’: DeSantis Goes After Disney’s Special Status“, below:
Critics of Governor Ron DeSantis commented that the recent Parental Rights in Education (aka Don’t Say Gay bill) is a solution in search of a problem because they claim that in Florida schools, sex education is already forbidden up to fifth grade. Supporters of Governor Ron DeSantis believe that it is necessary to have law in place to protect parental rights in education and to prevent the woke ideology from infiltrating into Florida school curriculum in the future. Ultimately I believe Mickey would think that it would be a good idea to encourage open and tolerant minds and to encourage dialogues among all parents in order to avoid law suits for schools and to protect all children’s rights to education and their innocence.
Walt Disney World has a special status that allows it to operate and run its Orlando theme parks as we know it. But because Disney denounced Florida’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill, state republicans are now calling to revoke Disney’s special status. Former Florida congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell joined Alicia Menendez on American Voices to discuss, in the video published on April 3, 2022, “Florida Republicans Call To Revoke Disney’s Special Status“, below:
Gov. Ron DeSantis has signaled support for stripping Disney of its 55-year-old special status that allows it to operate as an independent government around its Orlando-area theme park, in the video published on April 1, 2022, “Gov. DeSantis Signals Support For Stripping Disney Of ‘Special Privileges’“, below:
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ is going after the state’s largest employer, Disney, for publicly rejecting the “Don’t Say Gay” bill that he just signed into law. He signaled support for revoking Disney’s special self-governing status after Disney issued a statement opposing the bill, in the video published on April 3, 2022, “DeSantis Questions Disney’s Special Operating Status After Company Opposes Anti-Gay Bill“, below:
I reiterate:
I believe Mickey would have preferred that Governor DeSantis & CEO of Disney to sit down over a cup of coffee or a meal to clear some air and to figure out better ways to improve the Happiness Status of Disney in state of Florida
