Russian and Ukrainian delegations on Monday, February 28, 2022, began their first talks since the start of the Russian invasion last week, Russian Foreign Ministry, Ukrainian media and Belarusian state news agency Belta reported. “Russia and Ukraine are holding the first talks,” Belta said. Ahead of the talks, the Ukrainian presidency had demanded an immediate Russian ceasefire and troop withdrawal. France 24 Philip Turle tells us more, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “War in Ukraine: Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia start in Belarus-France 24 English“, below:
The negotiation meeting will be composed of delegates from Russia and Ukraine rather than Putin and Zelensky. This may possibly be a delay tactic. Earlier this morning, Ukrainian Zelensky asked ‘immediate EU membership’ for Ukraine.
NBC10’s Lucy Bustamante has your Monday morning update on the Russia-Ukraine crisis as representatives from both countries are set to negotiate Monday. The United Nations is holding an emergency meeting. There are also questions of whether Belarus could get involved, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “Russian, Ukrainian Delegations to Meet; UN to Discuss Humanitarian Issues“, below:
UN is having an emergency meeting today regarding Russian invasion of Ukraine, with humanitarian effort as the focus of concern. As the world tries to find ways to help Ukraine to survive, U.S. and Ukraine also call on Russia to turn down the nuclear rhetoric. Ukraine will be getting assistance from Europian Union soon. Russia-Ukrainian representatives from both countries will be negotiating on Monday, February 28, 2022. EU is also banning all flights from Russia. UPS and FedEx are also stopping shipments into Russia. Americans are warned to leave Russia because many flights to Russia are canceled.
Ukraine demanded an immediate Russian ceasefire and troop withdrawal on Monday, Feb 28, 2022, as its delegation arrived in Belarus for talks with Russian negotiators. Ukraine’s delegation is set to meet Russian representatives for the first talks since Moscow’s invasion, as the fighting for several Ukrainian cities continues and the Russian rouble collapses. “The Ukrainian delegation arrived at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border to take part in talks with representatives of the Russian Federation,” the Ukrainian President Zelenskysaid in a statement. “The key issue of the talks is an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a separate statement, urging Russian troops to abandon their equipment and leave the battlefield in order to survive, claiming that more than 4,500 Russian soldiers had already lost their lives. Zelensky also urged the European Union to give Ukraine “immediate” membership, via a special procedure. Russian state media posted videos of Ukrainian delegates arriving at the negotiation by helicopter. Russian forces have taken over the towns of Berdyansk and Enerhodar in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhya region as well as the area around the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, according to Interfax’s quote of Russian defense ministry on Monday, Feb 28, 2022. British defense ministry said that Russia’s advance on Kyiv has been slowed by logistical failures and fierce Ukrainian resistance. “The bulk of Putin’s ground forces remain more than 30km [18.6 miles] north of Kyiv, having been slowed by Ukrainian forces defending Hostomel airfield, a key Russian objective for day one of the conflict, according to the British defense ministry. “Logistical failures and staunch Ukrainian resistance continue to frustrate the Russian advance.” The Ukrainian military also accused Russia of launching a missile strike on residential buildings in the cities of Zhytomyr and Chernigiv, cities in Ukrainian Northwest and North. “At the same time, all attempts by the Russian invaders to achieve the goal of the military operation failed,” the military said. “The enemy is demoralized and bears heavy losses,” it claimed, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “Ukraine and Russia negotiators meet for peace talks at Ukraine-Belarus Border | DW News“, below:
Last minute… Russia said that it accepted the talks in the Gomel region of Ukraine. In the statement made by the Office of the President of Ukraine, “Russia and Ukraine negotiations will take place on the Ukraine-Belarus border” expressions were used. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said on his social media account, “I don’t believe there will be results, but let’s try” According to the reports in the Russian media, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted Russia’s offer to negotiate. In a statement made by the Presidency of Ukraine on social media, it was stated that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelesnkiy had a telephone conversation and said, “The Ukrainian delegate decided to meet with the Russian delegates without any preconditions, near the Pripyat River on the Ukraine-Belarus border. President Lukashenko of Belarus took the responsibility that the planes, helicopters, rockets will remain where they are on the territory of Belarus throughout the travel of the Ukrainian delegates, during the negotiations, and until the return of the delegates. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitro Kuleba stated that the Russian army informed them that they could hold talks without preconditions after suffering consecutive defeats, adding, “This is already a victory for Ukraine.” said. Kuleba, who stated that Russia was not interested in talking when Russia started the attack and only started to want to talk after it started to suffer heavy losses. “WE WILL MEET TO LISTEN TO WHAT RUSSIA SAY” Noting that the Belarusian forces are very close to the decision to attack Ukraine, Kuleba stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to protect his country’s northern border. Expressing that the meeting will not be in the city of Gomel, a military base desired by the Russian side, but on the border with Belarus, Kuleba said, “We will meet to listen to what Russia has to say. We will talk about ending the occupation.” he said. “WE WILL DESTROY THE WORLD BUT YOU CAN’T BEAT US” Noting that they would welcome a peace decision as a result of the talks, Kuleba pointed out that they would not surrender and would not give up their lands. Pointing out that Russia’s decision to put deterrent weapons on alert came just after the meeting of the delegations, Kuleba said that they thought they were putting pressure on their delegations. Kuleba said, “Russia’s alarming weapons of deterrent cannot stop us. If you hit us with nuclear bombs, it will be a disaster for the world, but you cannot defeat us.” used the expressions. ZELENSKIY RECOMMENDED ISTANBUL President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, “Negotiations in Minsk would have been possible if Russia had not attacked Ukraine from the Belarusian region.” For negotiations with Russia, Zelenskyy suggested Istanbul, Warsaw, Baku or Budapest instead of Belarus, where attacks were made on his country. ZELENSKIY-LUKASHENKO MEETS On the other hand, Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. While the details of the meeting were not shared, Lukashenko called on Kiev to sit at the negotiating table, saying ‘If Ukraine does not want to lose’, in the video published on Feb 27, 2022, “The Comforting Step has Come Russian-Ukrainian Negotiations Begin…“, below:
Talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegates have begun at the Belarusian border. Ukraine is calling for an immediate ceasefire and withdrawal of Russian forces, the president’s office said, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “Ukraine calls for immediate ceasefire as negotiations with Russia get underway | 7NEWS“, below:
Leaders of all nations should pass the sanity test before being allowed to lead any country!
Many Russian soldiers thought they were having a drill rather than being in the actual war, so when some of the Russian tanks ran out fuel in Ukraine, they were trying to gas up, seen in the screenshot of a killed Russian soldier’s text to his mother, during an UN meeting. Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Nations, Sergiy Kyslytsya, has read aloud a text message exchange between a Russian solider in Ukraine and his mother before he was killed. “Mama, I’m in Ukraine. There is a real war raging here. I’m afraid,” one message read according to Kyslytsya Russia-Ukraine war latest news: ICC to open investigation into alleged war crimes, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “Ukraine’s UN ambassador reads text from Russian soldier to mother before he was killed“, below:
Apparently Putin did not tell his people that there is a real war going on and Russia is invading Ukraine, sending more than 30,000+ Russian soldiers to be slaughtered. These killed Russian soldiers surely have families and friends back home in Russia. Russian market is crashing so much that they had to close it on Monday, February 28, 2022. This Russian invasion is also training/weaning other countries off of Russian oil, speeding up transition toward renewable energy, therefore Putin has permanently killed off Russia’s own market and source of revenue. It’s going to get worse in Russia both economically and politically for Putin as well as for the Russian people. So it is no wonder that there are so many Russians protesting against this war in more than 50+ cities in Russia, and thousands of Russians are put in jail for protesting. These days, Putin is at arm’s length from his own officers, hiding in a bunker with no windows, reminiscent of Adolf Hitler toward the end of WWII when Secret Nazi attempted to turn the tide of war as Berlin crumbled. Joseph Goebbel’s diaries provide a fresh understanding of life inside Hitler’s bunker in the final days of the Reich, in the video published on Dec 20, 2020, “The Last Days Of Adolf Hitler | Secrets Of War | Timeline“, below:
Ukraine’s U.N. Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya began his comments at the United Nations General Assembly emergency meeting by reading texts between a slain Russian soldier and his mother, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “‘Momma, I’m in Ukraine. I’m afraid’: Final text from Russian soldier read during UN General Assembly“, below:
The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has set up a Telegram channel with videos that it says show captured, injured, and dead Russian soldiers. This video shows Russian soldiers being interrogated. The prisoners are being questioned by their Ukrainian captors, in the video published on Feb 27, 2022, “Russian POWs Say They Were Tricked, Threatened During Invasion“, below:
Richard Haass of the Council on Foreign Relations discusses why the Russian invasion of Ukraine in its fifth day has gone much worse than Russian President Vladimir Putin could have imagined, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “Richard Haass: The Invasion Is Going Much Worse Than Putin Could Have Imagined“, below:
The world has been gripped by the dramatic images of heroism and heartbreak coming out of Ukraine, where things do not appear to be playing out according to Putin’s plan and a comedian-turned-president has emerged as a national hero, in the video published on Feb 28, 2022, “Ukraine’s Civilians Take Up The Fight Against Russia |Zelensky’s Bravery Inspires World“, below:
Hear! Hear! Zelensky! Hear! Hear! Ukrainians!
