This week a large study on vaccination and previous infection, in other words natural immunity, was published by CDC based on data from New York State and California. They looked at COVID 19 infections and hospitalizations in patients who have been vaccinated with different vaccines as well as those who had natural immunity, in the video published on Jan 24, 2022, “CDC finally acknowledges the power of natural immunity“, below:

According to Dr. Keith Moran in the video above, CDC has finally acknowledged the power of natural immunity (immunity acquired through previous exposures or infections rather through vaccinations). CDC released a report, this week, on COVID cases and hospitalizations based on vaccination status as well as previous COVID-19 diagnosis, enabling the comparison between vaccinated immunity vs natural immunity acquired through previous infections. This study is based on data gathered from states of New York and California from May 2021 to November 2021 (during the end of Alpha wave and Delta wave), composed of 18% of the total USA population. CDC researchers looked at 4 groups of people:
- Unvax, w/no previous infection
- Vax, w/no previous infection
- Unvax, w/previous infection
- Vax, w/previous infection
Group 2. was considered as the baseline group, result of the study in infection rates from different groups, below:
- Unvax, w/no previous infection————baseline
- Vax, w/no previous infection—————6.2 fold lower risk in CA & 4.5 fold lower risk in NY
- Unvax, w/previous infection—————29 fold lower risk in CA & 14.7 fold lower risk in NY
- Vax, w/previous infection——————32.5 fold lower risk in CA & 19.8 lower risk in NY
The data of this study indicates that natural immunity acquired through previous infections would be more significant than immunity acquired through vaccinations in protection against future COVID infections. Those who had previously been exposed to COVID-19 have much lower chance of future infection with COVID-19, whether with or without vaccinations.
As for hospitalization reduction rate in California for all 4 groups mentioned above, the results are listed below:
- Unvax, w/no previous infection———–baseline
- Vax, w/no previous infection————–19.8 fold lower risk of being hospitalized
- Unvax, w/previous infection—————55.3 fold lower risk of being hospitalized
- Vax, w/previous infection——————57.5 fold lower risk of being hospitalized
Conclusion: a person is less likely to get infected or hospitalized if he/she has immunity, whether it is acquired through natural immunity due to previous infection or through vaccinations. The study based on New York and California states above indicates that natural immunity through previous infection is stronger and may last longer than immunity acquired through vaccination. Hybrid immunity (based on previous infection and vaccination) presents the lowest rates of future infection and hospitalization.

According to the video below: The CDC’s weekly Morbidity and Mortality Report finally proves that previous COVID infection conveys immunity at least as good as if not better than that of fully the vaccinated (double jabbed), analyzing data from Delta variant illnesses in August of 2021. - Natural immunity is superior to vaccine alone
- Vaccine + prior infection is equal to prior infection alone. No benefit from the shots.
- Unvaccinated & naive fare the worst
- This information should have come out more than a year ago
- Forcing vaccine upon those with natural immunity is scientifically indefensible. Medical exemptions for prior infection are ethically and medically supported by this data.
- “Vaccinated” vs “unvaccinated” is the wrong metric. It should be “immunologically protected” vs “not immunologically protected.”
- Omicron will upend this entire analysis.

What is the state-of-the-art in terms of natural COVID immunity in November 2021: Dr. Keith Moran talks about a recently peer-reviewed systemic review from UCLA in the US outlining the risk of reinfection in patients with natural COVID immunity. This has important implications for vaccination strategies in countries which have only just begun to vaccinate their population. There are cases when Immunity acquired through vaccination is better than acquired through exposure/infection, listed below:
- Chickenpox virus
- Human papilloma virus (causes cervical cancer)
- Haemophilus influenza type B baceteria
- Pneumococcal bacteria
For the case of COVID-19, various studies indicated that immunity acquired through previous infection appears to be better or stronger and lasts longer than immunity acquired through vaccines. Longer follow-up studies are needed to determine how much protection against new variants and how long natural immunity acquired through previous infection would last. Vaccinated group appears to clear the virus more quickly than unvaccinated group. Finally, it is important for those without any immunity and with multiple co-morbidities to get vaccinated. Data also shows that hybrid immunity (vaccination+virus infection) fared best, those who had natural immunity through previous infection also benefit from one dose of vaccination. Two anti-virals: Molnuparivir (Lagevrio) from Merck and Ritonavir (Paxlovid) from Pfizer and many other therapeutics have been studied.
