As Omicron displaces Delta as the globally dominant variant, there have been reports over the past 24 hours of a potential new variant that has sequences from both Omicron and Delta, coined “Deltacron”. Here we will discuss what is known so far, whether this is something to be concerned about, how Deltacron may have come to be, how widespread it is, and whether it truly does exist. - a co-infection
- a contamination in the lab
