Direct Hit From A Solar Flare
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

On August 31, 2012 a long filament of solar material that had been hovering in the sun’s atmosphere, the corona, erupted out into space at 4:36 p.m. EDT. The coronal mass ejection, or CME, traveled at over 900 miles per second. The CME did not travel directly toward Earth, but did connect with Earth’s magnetic environment, or magnetosphere, causing aurora to appear on the night of Monday, September 3. ..Picutred here is a lighten blended version of the 304 and 171 angstrom wavelengths. Big solar flare was observed to be heading toward earth. Trajectory is going to be a direct hit. So, there may be low-level geomagnetic disruption any time between Monday, October 11, 2021 to Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Spaceweather.com reported that a “halo” corona mass ejection (CME) has been spotted. CMEs heading directly for earth seem to form a 360-degree halo around the sun. CMEs heading directly away from earth can from a halo too. So far this year, dozens of CMEs have missed earth (many of them were near misses), provoking no more than minor geomagnetic unrest as they passed by.
With the help from NASA, NASA’s SDO, and editing from sunisthefuture-Susan Sun Nunamaker, let’s try to better understand the Sun and its CMEs in the video published on March 1, 2013, “Sun & Its CMEs (Coronal Mass Ejections)“, below:

But a solar superstorm may potentially cause large-scale internet outages covering the entire globe and lasting several months. Major solar storms have occurred in the past well before the advent of the internet, satellite technology and high-speed communications. The biggest recorded solar storm, the Carrington Event, occurred in September of 1859.

An enormous solar flare is expected to hit Earth between Oct. 11-Oct.12, 2021, potentially affecting power grids and generating an aurora in northern latitudes. The coronal mass ejection originates from the Sun, causing a huge burst of electrically conducting plasma. An alert published by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) informed us that we should expect weak power grid fluctuations and satellite orientation irregularities which could increase the drag on craft in low Earth orbit. The agency rates the storm as G2, which means it is moderately strong, in the video published on Oct. 12, 2021, “Massive Solar Storm Hits Earth to Disrupt“, below:
