There has been much debate between people who believe in vaccine mandate and those who are anti-vaxxers. At this juncture, already more than a year into the pandemic, there may be an acceptable middle ground that needs to be considered because many people have already acquired natural immunity against COVID-19.
Marty Makary, Professor of Health Policy at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, shares the findings of an Israeli study showing natural immunity is 13 times stronger than the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, in the video published on Sep. 9, 2021, “Dr. Marty Makary Shares the Findings of an Israeli Study on Natural Immunity“, below:
Chris Hayes said, “Republicans are cynically mobilizing the energy of the anti-vaxx movement for their own political benefit. But I can’t remember an example of the entire illusion being quite as flagrantly shoved in the faces of everyone as today in Florida,” in the video published on Sep. 13, 2021, “DeSantis ‘Anti-Vaccine Mandate’ Event Turned Anti-Vaccine Real Quick“, below:
As hospitals across the country struggle to cope with rising Covid-19 cases among the unvaccinated, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is threatening to fine cities and counties in the state thousands of dollars if they impose vaccine mandates. NBC News’ Maura Barrett breaks down how local state leaders and health workers are responding to the governor’s ban on vaccine mandates, in the video published on Sep. 15, 2021, “Florida Governor Threatens To Fine Cities That Impose Vaccine Mandates“, below:
The COVID-19 vaccines being rejected by many prominent Republicans as a ‘simple way out’ of the COVID-19 crisis solution is lamented by Dr. Joseph Allen, a public health expert. MSNBC analyst Charlie Sykes also joins Joy Reid to discuss, in the video published on Sep. 13, 2021, “Doctor Laments GOP Not Recognizing ‘Simple Way Out’ Of COVID-19 Crisis In Vaccines“, below:
Kim Iversen makes the case for rethinking COVID-19 immunity after a new report appears to cast doubt on the immuno-response of vaccine immunity, in the video published on Aug. 30, 2021, “Kim Iversen: BOMBSHELL Report Suggest Natural Immunity Triggers Better Response Against COVID“, below:
NCLA’s client Prof. Todd Zywicki joins CNN to explain how George Mason University (GMU) is threatening employees with disciplinary action that includes “unpaid leave or possible loss of employment” if they don’t comply with the public university’s vaccine mandate. NCLA has filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on behalf of Antonin Scalia Law School Professor Todd Zywicki against GMU’s unconstitutional reopening policy for the Fall 2021 semester. The policy requires all unvaccinated faculty and staff members, including those who can demonstrate natural immunity through recovery from a prior Covid-19 infection, to not only disclose their vaccination status as “a prerequisite for eligibility for any merit pay increases,” but also be forced into choosing between their health and personal autonomy and suffering serious detriment to their professional careers. Professor Zywicki has recovered from Covid-19 and thereby acquired robust natural immunity, as confirmed in multiple positive SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests during the past year. Professor Zywicki’s immunologist, Dr. Hooman Noorchashm, has advised him that, based on his personal health and immunity status, it is medically unnecessary to get a Covid-19 vaccine—and that it violates medical ethics to order unnecessary procedures. Affidavits from Drs. Jay Bhattacharya, Martin Kulldorff, and Noorchashm explain that undergoing a full vaccination course creates a risk of harm and provides no benefit either to Prof. Zywicki or the GMU community, in the video published on Aug. 14, 2021, “Should Covid immunity be an exception to vaccine mandates?” below:
Have you already had COVID? If so, do you need to be vaccinated? Dr. Moran will be going to address this question in today’s video. Patients who develop the original SARS coronavirus back in 2003 have good immunity 17 years later based on detailed immune system assessment. If you had COVID will you have the same long-lasting immunity? Dr. Moran reports on a well done immunological study by Dr. Jennifer Dan and Dr. Shane Crotty on patients who had COVID to address this question. We know reinfection is rare with SARS-CoV-2 so do you need the vaccine? In this study, many different aspects of the immune system in 188 patients were assessed looking at the 5 major components over time. Dr. Moran will show you what their results are and how it might bear on vaccination, in the video published on Feb. 27, 2021, “You had COVID. Are You immune? Vaccine Yes or No?” below:
Is it possible for both sides (vaccine-mandate believers and anti-vaxxers) to reach the compromise of: Allowing employees to provide either positive Antibody test result or proof of vaccine in order to continue with employment. Given that many of these workers may had already acquired natural immunity from previous exposure to the virus and the recent study from Israel concluded that natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease, and hospitalization caused by the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 (aka COVID-19), compared to the BNT162b2 (aka Pfizer COVID-19) two-dose vaccine-induced immunity by 13 fold.
The two types of acquired immunity are adaptive and passive. Adaptive immunity occurs in response to having been infected with or vaccinated against a microorganism. The body makes an immune response, which can prevent future infection with the microorganism. Passive immunity occurs when a person receives antibodies to a disease or toxin rather than making them through his or her own immune system. If the calculation for adaptive immunity includes both “response to having been infected with” and “response to vaccinated against” a microorganism (in this case, COVID-19), it is possible that herd immunity may still be reached in Florida by the end of 2021 as a result of vaccination + natural immunity from previous infection. The best way to determine whether or not one has the ability or immunity to fight against the COVID-19 is by testing the amount of antibodies one has, either acquired from previous infection or acquired from vaccination.
