It is important to legislate Roe v. Wade, making it part of the statutory law. The new Texas abortion law will be disastrous for poor Texas women as well as for the prosperity of the state of Texas in years to come. Any tech company will now think twice before considering moving to Texas for this new abortion law means the state of Texas is regressing toward the Dark Ages.
The new Texas abortion law has no exceptions for incest or rape, and deputizes private citizens as bounty hunters searching for anyone who performed or helped a woman get an abortion after a six-week period, before most women even know they’re pregnant. Former Sen. Barbara Boxer, legal expert Elie Mystal, and journalist Errin Haines join Joy Reid to discuss how the conservative Supreme Court that made the decision not to block this law came into being, and how the Biden administration can counter it to ensure the constitutional medical rights of Texas women, in the video published on Sep. 2, 2021, “Barbara Boxer: Wake Up America. This Is A Full-Throated Overturning Of Roe“, below:
Chris Hayes breaks down why most Republicans are not out there celebrating and defending the Texas abortion ban—even the ones in Texas, in the video published on Sep. 3, 2021, “Why Most Republicans Won’t Defend The Texas Abortion Ban“, below:
Majority whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) says the filibuster has been used to push the agendas of a small minority and has been pushing for “carve-outs” from the filibuster for Constitutional matters such as voting and abortion rights. He “commended” his colleague Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) who has been trying since 2013 to trying to codify abortion rights into law. “We should have done this years ago…I hope that we get the vote on it next month and I suspect that long before November 1st it will pass the senate.” in the video published on Sep. 4, 2021, “Clyburn: ‘Nothing Is More Private’ Than The Decision To Have An Abortion“, below:
To deputizes private citizens as bounty hunters searching for anyone who performed or helped a woman get an abortion after a six-week period…this presents the imagery of something very Medieval…very Dark Ages….
