Elon Musk at the World Government Summit 2017 in Dubai, in the video published on Feb. 16, 2017, “Elon Musk says Universal Basic Income is “going to be necessary.”, below:
Elon Musk believes that, with automation, there will come abundances. Almost every thing will get very cheap. I think we will just end up doing a universal basic income. It’s going to be necessary. The harder challenge (much harder challenge) is…how do people then have meaning? A lot of people derive the meaning from their employment. If you’re not needed, if there is not a need for your labor, what’s the meaning? Do you have meaning? Do you feel useless? That’s a much harder problem to deal with.”
In today’s video we discuss the growing implications of technology and how a universal basic income dividend (UBI) system could potentially flatten the curve of economic disruption from artificial intelligence. People like Elon Musk, Andrew Yang, and even Richard Nixon have all been promoters of such an idea. Over time, perhaps such an idea may become reality….in the video published on May 9, 2020, “Why Elon Musk Believes Universal Basic Income Will Be Necessary“, below:

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk told CNBC on Friday that economies would most likely need a form of ‘universal basic income’ as more and more industries become automated, in the video published on Nov. 4, 2016, “Elon Musk: Moving Toward Universal Basic Income Due To Automation | CNBC“, below:
Universal basic income (or UBI) is a key part of Andrew Yang’s campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. On Monday, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk tweeted his support for Yang’s candidacy. Musk and Yang have stated similar views on the need for universal basic income in the United States. A main tenet of Yang’s campaign platform is his pledge to provide $1,000 a month to all American citizens 18 and older. Yang refers to this payment as a “Freedom Dividend” that will become necessary as robots and automation replace humans more rapidly than people can find and be retained for new jobs, in the video published on Aug. 16, 2019, “Elon Musk And Andrew Yang Support UBI – Is America Ready?” below:
Robots are coming for our jobs, whether we like it or not. In 2016, the US Council of Economic Advisers estimated that 83% of US jobs that pay less than $20 per hour could be automated in the future. That’s around 65 million, and that number looks certain to rise. Mass unemployment on this scale is clearly unsustainable, but what can be done?
