On Friday, July 2, 2021, Mexico’s state-owned oil company Pemex said it suffered a rupture in an undersea pipeline in the Gulf of Mexico, sending flames boiling to the surface in the Gulf waters. Several firefighting boats pumped water onto the eye of fire for nearly 5 hours until it was eventually extinguished, in the video published on July 3, 2021, “Video shows fire in Gulf of Mexico after gas pipeline rupture | ABC7“, below:
According to Pemex, no injuries were reported and production from the project was not affected.The gas leak ignited around 5:15 am local time, was extinguished by 10:30 am. Pemex reported the leak in the submarine pipeline near Ku-Maloob-Zaap’s Ku-C Satellite Platform.
