This is an incredible speech that will change your perspectives on many topics, in the video published on May 9, 2021, “Elon Musk’s Controversial Speech That Exposed The Biggest Deception In The World“, below: Musk reminds us that the new goal is to transition into a sustainable energy future, utilizing renewable energy such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy. Nuclear energy is also a good option. Energy sources that will be around for billions of years are the ones we want to use. 3% of the scientists believe in the best case while about 97% of the scientists believe in the worst case of the climate change-energy transition future. The transition is delayed because there is a hidden subsidy on all carbon producing activities, leading to unpaid cost to society and the net result of 35 gigaton of carbon per year into the atmosphere. In order to move away from this non-optimal scenario, we need to have a carbon tax. But this is being fought quite hard by the carbon producers and they’re using tactics similar to cigarette industry and tobacco industry from the past, even though there was overwhelming scientific consensus that smoking cigarettes was bad for human. They would find a few scientists that would disagree and then they would say, “look scientists disagree so that’s essentially how they would try to trick the public into thinking that.” So, it is important to remove the subsidy by having a revenue neutral carbon tax (increasing taxes on carbon but reducing taxes in other areas such as reduction in sales tax or VAT) so that only those using high levels of carbon will pay an increased tax. Every one needs to take action and care about what future has in store and lead by example. So, for countries dependent on fossil fuels, if they just change their tax structure, aligning the correct incentive with tax structure. For example, collecting more taxes from what is most likely to be bad instead of things that are most likely to be good, as we tax alcohol and cigarettes much more than we tax fruits and vegetables. So the important thing to do to help speed up the transition toward renewable and sustainable energy future is by adjusting the correct tax code, graduated over time, would help groups, organizations, nations to gradually become less dependent on fossil fuels.
