The 93rd Oscars was held on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theater at Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, and international locations via satellite. This year’s slate of nominees contained some notable firsts:  first time an all-Black production team was nominated for best picture, the first time two actors of Asian descent receiving a nod for best actor and the first time two women were nominated for best director. Chloe Zhao made history for being the first woman of color to win the Best Director award for “Nomadland” and being the second woman to win this award in nearly 100 years.
