With all of us having been spending far many more hours indoor during the COVID pandemic, further exasperated by the pollen season during month of March, many of our readers have been asking for help in the indoor air quality department. In addition to concern about potential bacterial, viral, dust mites, fungal growth/elimination, recently we’ve even been getting questions about help with eliminating formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (aka VOCs). All of these factors (bacteria, virus, fungus, dust mites, formaldehyde, VOCs) may contribute to allergic reactions, asthma complications, and respiratory infections, and are best eliminated in order to provide a healthy and optimal environment. So, our Consumer Products Testing department went on a Search-Research-Testing journey of comparing and reviewing various air cleaning products on the market. There are quite a few companies with air purifiers, with different air flow rates, different elimination capacities, and different costs, below:

After much search, reviews, and testing, we’ve concluded that: if the goal is to eliminate bacteria, virus, fungi, dust mites, formaldehyde, and VOCs, effectively, it is best to pair up Whirlpool Whispure (activated carbon filter) air purifier, with a Molekule air purifier because Whirlpool Whispure air purifier is cost effective and eliminates bacteria, virus, and fungus at a fast flow rate while Molekule removes formaldehyde, VOCs, bacteria, virus, and fungus, but at a much slower flow rate. If your main concern is to remove bacteria, virus, fungus, and dust mite, Whirlpool Whispure air purifier would be very cost effective for it removes 99.97% of the particles as small as 0.3 microns or larger. If your concern is mainly in removing formaldehyde, then keep an eye on the new Dyson’s HP09 and TP09 model in “Dyson’s New Air Purifier Shows How Much Formaldehyde It’s Trying To Destroy“. If your main concern is in removing VOCs, then consider either Dyson HP09/Dyson TP09 or IQAir Multigas.
