On Tuesday, January 12, 2021, HHS (Health & Human Services) Secretary  Alex Azar announced that the federal government would be releasing the coronavirus vaccine stockpile.  But some reports revealed that during the Trump administration the reserve of vaccine had already been exhausted. Officials stopped stockpiling doses of Pfizer’s vaccines at the end of 2020 and stopped reserving Moderna vaccines this past weekend. It remains unclear when the federal government will receive more doses but Pfizer said it has “on hand all the second doses of the previous shipments.” The Washington Post reports that the reserve started being distributed in December, and is gone; despite promise from HHS Secretary Alex Azar on Tuesday that the federal government would begin distribution of reserve, in the video “Despite promise from Trump Administration, COVID-19 vaccine reserve appears to be ‘exhausted‘”, below: The Washington Post reported the federal government doesn’t have a reserve of Covid-19 vaccine doses, contradicting its earlier statements. Now, state governors are angry and accusing the federal government for misleading them on the amount of vaccines available.
