President-elect Joe Biden announces his COVID-19 advisory board and his plan to combat the pandemic, in the video “President-elect Joe Biden speaks on COVID-19“, below: President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team revealed his COVID-19 task force  13-members team on Monday, November 9, 2020, composed of former governmental health officials, academics, and major figures in medicine:

• Dr. Rick Bright: former head of the vaccine-development agency BARDA ousted by the Trump administration in April
• Dr. Atul Gawande: the surgeon, writer, and recently departed CEO of Haven
• Dr. Luciana Borio: former Food and Drug Administration official and biodefense specialist
• Dr. Vivek Murthy, former surgeon general

Biden has COVID-19 crisis on the top of his priority list for his incoming administration. The task force would consult with state and local health officials on how to prevent COVID-19 spread, reopening schools and businesses, and addressing the racial disparities that have left communities of color being harder hit than others by the pandemic. Biden said in a statement Monday, “Dealing with the coronavirus pandemic is one of the most important battles our administration will face, and I will be informed by science and by experts.
