It was truly a pivotal moment in human history, ushering in a new age of great potential and prosperity, but also deepen inequality, challenge democracy, and divide the world into two A.I. superpowers.Developments in artificial intelligence (AI) are leading to fundamental changes in the way we live. Algorithms can already detect Parkinson’s disease and cancer, and control both cars and aircraft. How will AI change our society in the future? This documentary journeys to the hot spots of AI research in Europe, the USA and China, and looks at the revolutionary developments which are currently taking place. The rapid growth of AI offers many opportunities, but also many dangers. AI can be used to create sound and video recordings which will make it more and more difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction. It will make the world of work more efficient and many professions superfluous. Algorithms can decide whether to grant loans, who is an insurance risk, and how good employees are. But there is a huge problem: humans can no longer comprehend how algorithms arrive at their decisions. And another big problem is AI’s capacity for widespread surveillance. The Chinese city of Rongcheng is already using an AI-supported ‘social credit system’ to monitor and assess its citizens. Does AI pose a danger to our personal freedoms or democracy? Which decisions can we leave to the algorithms – and which do we want to? And what are AI’s social implications? A documentary by Tilman Wolff und Ranga Yogeshwar, in the video “Artificial intelligence & algorithms: pros & cons, DW Documentary (AI documentary)“, below:
A documentary exploring how artificial intelligence is changing life as we know it — from jobs to privacy to a growing rivalry between the U.S. and China, in the video “In the Age of AI (full film), FRONTLINE“, below:
The fear of losing jobs to computers is a common one among millions of people, and one that many have seen happen in their lifetime. But A.I. has the potential to allow many jobs to evolve, to become safer, more efficient and better for society as a whole, in the video “Will a robot take my job? The Age of A.I.“, below:
Many say that human beings have destroyed our planet. Because of this these people are endeavoring to save it through the help of artificial intelligence. Famine, animal extinction, and war may all be preventable one day with the help of technology, in the video “Saving the world one algorithm at a time, The Age of A.I.“, below:
We have always wondered whether other intelligent life exists in this galaxy, but for the first time we have the technology to help answer that question. With artificial intelligence, researchers have renewed the hunt for alien life in space and also begun to wonder if an entirely new life form has, in the video “How A.I. is searching for Aliens, The Age of A.I.“, below:
Could artificial intelligence ever gain true consciousness? This documentary explores what might unfold if super intelligent AI acquired consciousness, how it might see itself, and what it’s impact might be on our world and beyond, in the video “Documentary~Artificial Intelligence and Consciousness (AI Documentary 2020)“, below:

Elon Musk is on the record stating that artificial superintelligence or ASI could bring the end of the human race. Elon has publicly expressed concern about AI many times now. He thinks the advent of a digital superintelligence is the most pressing issue for humanity to get right. What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence would have undergone an event called the intelligence explosion, likely to occur in the 21st century. It is unknown what, or who this machine-network would become; The issue of superintelligence remains peripheral to mainstream AI research and is mostly discussed by a small group of academics. Besides Elon Musk, Swedish philosopher Nick Bostrom is also among well known public thinkers who is worried about AI. He lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life : Now imagine a machine, structurally similar to a brain but with immense hardness and flexibility, designed from the bottom scratch to function as an intelligent agent. Given sufficiently long time, a machine like this could acquire enormous knowledge and skills, surpassing human intellectual capacity in virtually every field. At that point the machine would have become superintelligent. With other words the machine’s intellectual capacities would exceed those of all of humanity put together by a very large margin. This would represent the most radical change in the history of life on earth. In order to develop a superintelligence that would benefit humanity, the process has to be done in a series of steps with each step being determined before we move to the next one. In fact, it might just be possible to program the AI to help us achieve the things we humans may not be able to do on our own. It is not simply being able to create them and learning how they’ve been commanded, but it is interacting with them and evolving ourselves at the same time. It is learning how to be human after the first ASI, in the video “Elon Musk’s Message on Artificial Superintelligence – ASI“, below:
Elon Musk has warned about the dangers of AI in many occasions. He is one among many public thinkers who have expressed concerned about the risks involved in artificial intelligence. Particularly, a digital Superintelligence as Elon calls it. While artificial intelligence systems continue to improve, they also raise a fundamental question about the survival of our species. The dangers of AI can not be overstated. The AI alignment problem is probably the single most important task for humanity to get it right the first time, because we may not ever get a chance to try again. Elon Musk thinks we should proceed very very carefully if we collectively decide that building a digital Superintelligence is the right move. Our failure to grasp and deal with the possible consequences that come along with the creation of a digital Superintelligence, may prove to be our downfall. A Superintelligence would be capable of rapid learning and unlimited memory, making it a potentially superior being. It is difficult to study an AGI, but the possible results are worrying. A Superintelligence might have a rapid growth period, taking over every computer system and reducing the human race to a small and inconsequential presence. Unfortunately, an AGI would be both very intelligent and resource limited, and so it would eventually consider its own survival optimal. This may lead to it threatening other intelligences that were once its allies, and it may even terminate them. Assuming that a digital Superintelligence could be controlled, it would then be under human direction. What would it be used for? In the video “Elon Musk’s Final Warning About AI: Should We Create a Digital Superintelligence?” below:
Elon Musk thinks we are most likely in a simulation, because we exist. If you assume any rate of improvement at all, then games will be indistinguishable from reality, or civilization will end. One of those two things will occur. A computer simulation according to Elon Musk seems to be the best explanation for how we got here without being in a simulation. According to Elon Musk there’s a billion to one chance we’re living in base reality. There is a very good chance that we are living in a computer simulation. The computer simulation theory holds that all of reality as we know it is an artificial construct created by an advanced civilization. There is evidence that computer games are more complex and realistic every year and so it seems very likely that the future of computer logic will simulate worlds that are indistinguishable from ours. Could this advancement of computers eventually lead to a simulated reality that is indistinguishable from our own? The answer is that we don’t know what the future of computers will be, but the fact that we are already close to producing photorealistic images in real time indicates that things are moving in that direction. Complete immersion in a virtual world is no longer a pipe dream – it is very close to being an everyday reality. The next step is that we will place our brains into a computer simulation where we can sense, experience, and interact completely with our world, in the video “Elon Musk’s Question to AI: What’s Outside The Simulation?“, below:

I am a mother/wife/daughter, math professor, solar advocate, world traveler, yogi, artist, photographer, sharer of knowledge/information, and resident of Windermere, FL. I've worked professionally in applied math, engineering, medical research, and as a university math professor in IL and FL for about 20 years. My husband and I loved Disney and moved down to Central Florida initially as snowbirds. But we've come to love the warmth and friendly people offered by this community and decided to move down to Windermere, FL full time in 2006. I am now spending time sharing information/ knowledge online, promoting understanding of math and solar energy (via http://www.sunisthefuture.net ), and developing Windermere Sun (http://www.WindermereSun.com) as an online publication, sharing and promoting Community ABC's (Activities-Businesses-Collaborations) for healthier/happier/more sustainable living. In the following posts, I'll be sharing with you some of the reasons why Windermere has attracted us to become full-time residents of Central Florida region. Please feel free to leave your comments via email at "Contact Us" in the topbar above or via info.WindermereSun@gmail.com.
