Already more than 80 million Americans have cast their ballot. In New York City, early voting has brought frustratingly long lines and has generated renewed calls for reforms to the City Board of Elections. However, there is some relief in sight as early voting hours have been extended through the weekend, in the video “NYC early voting hours extended this weekend“, below:
Prior to the U.S. presidential election taking place in just a few days, early voting is skyrocketing, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Recent polls show that this year, more than 75 million Americans have already cast votes nationwide. This record-breaking number represents more than half of the total votes cast in the 2016 Presidential election. With less than a week to go until the 2020 U.S. presidential election, more than 75 million Americans have cast early votes. According to the tally from the U.S. Elections Project on Wednesday, early votes this year have already surpassed half the total votes cast in the entire 2016 presidential election. Of the early votes, more than 25 million Americans have marked their ballot papers in person, while nearly 50 million voted by mail. In addition, according to a recent survey conducted by CNN, Edison Research and Catalist, some 35-percent of registered voters have already cast early ballots as of Wednesday afternoon. Currently,.. the top three states with the highest percentage for early voting are Montana, Washington state, and Colorado,… with more than 50-percent of registered voters casting ballots in all three states. So far, the early votes show that registered Democrats have outpaced Republicans in mail-in votes. However, it is too early to come to any conclusions as President Trump is seeing a slight uptick in his recent polls. The battle in Florida, a key swing state, is getting tighter,… as Wednesday’s poll average provided by RealClearPolitics showed a tie between the two contestants, with both at 48-percent. This tie comes a day after Trump, for the first time, had taken a slight lead by 0-point-4 points. According to the CNN Poll of Polls, Joe Biden is in the lead at 52-percent, while Trump is trailing at 42-percent as of Wednesday, in the video, “More than 75 million Americans cast early votes before U.S. presidential election“, below:
As of October 27, 2020, the country is seeing record turnout for early voting, as well as some late legal challenges around when — and if — all those votes get counted. Almost 70 million people have already cast their ballots, with Election Day still a week away. William Brangham reports and talks to the University of Florida’s Michael McDonald, who runs the United States Election Project, about what the numbers show, in the video “What record early voting numbers tell us about the election — and what they don’t“, below:
More than 70 million Americans have cast their ballots in the US presidential election, more than half the total turnout of the 2016 election with one week to go until Election Day. We speak to Lecturer at Lancaster University Robert Gutsche on what chances president Trump could have to close the lead with Joe Biden, in the video “US early voting passes half the total ballots cast in 2016“, below:
More than 79 million Americans have voted in the 2020 presidential election with six days until Election Day, according to the U.S. Elections Project. Key states Texas and Florida have seen record high voter turnout so far. Young voters, who tend to vote in person and later in the election season, will be a group to watch as Nov. 3 approaches, in the video “Early voters break records across the U.S.: ‘It’s Americans doing their civic duty’“, below:
Former VP Joe Biden and President Trump are working hard to get Latino and senior voters in Florida, which are key to the state, in the video “Big changes in the Florida Hispanic, seniors’ vote“, below:
Steve Kornacki looks at Florida’s Pasco County, a county Trump won in 2016, and discusses what it could tell us about the 2020 race early in the evening on election night, in the video “What A Florida County Could Tell US Early Election Night, Morning Joe, MSNBC“, below:

I am a mother/wife/daughter, math professor, solar advocate, world traveler, yogi, artist, photographer, sharer of knowledge/information, and resident of Windermere, FL. I've worked professionally in applied math, engineering, medical research, and as a university math professor in IL and FL for about 20 years. My husband and I loved Disney and moved down to Central Florida initially as snowbirds. But we've come to love the warmth and friendly people offered by this community and decided to move down to Windermere, FL full time in 2006. I am now spending time sharing information/ knowledge online, promoting understanding of math and solar energy (via http://www.sunisthefuture.net ), and developing Windermere Sun (http://www.WindermereSun.com) as an online publication, sharing and promoting Community ABC's (Activities-Businesses-Collaborations) for healthier/happier/more sustainable living. In the following posts, I'll be sharing with you some of the reasons why Windermere has attracted us to become full-time residents of Central Florida region.
