During these few weeks before the election, to help us all to see the brighter and lighter side of things, I’d like to introduce you all American voters to a wonderful church, The Church of Universal Suffrage, recently discovered via one of the sub-Reddits, MaliciousCompliance. To better understand what this church is all about, please refer to the “About the Church of Universal Suffrage” from their website, below:
The Church of Universal Suffrage is a nationwide, officially registered, non-profit religious institution that holds regular, weekly Sunday Service in meditation on the nature of voter suppression. We also observe every voting day in the United States to be an official holiday reserved the celebration of our inalienable right to vote, endowed to us by our Creator along with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Statement of Faith
We Believe: That all people are created equal and that they are all endowed by their Creator with the inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We Believe: That universal suffrage is a sacred extension of these rights.
We Believe: That to violate this right through voter suppression is a sin.
We Believe: That sacred days of worship and holidays are to be spent in continual meditation on voter suppression and in celebration of our inalienable right to vote.
We Believe: In a power greater than ourselves.
Donations:
The Church of Universal Suffrage will never ask for or accept any donation. We ask that you donate to a local charity of your choice instead.
However, because our Church was founded in Tennessee, we do recommend donating to Dreams and Wishes: a non-profit organization that grants wishes for local Tennessee children diagnosed with cancer.
