Elon Musk has warned about the dangers of AI on many occasions. He is one among many public thinkers who have expressed concerned about the risks involved in artificial intelligence. Particularly, a digital Superintelligence as Elon calls it. While artificial intelligence systems continue to improve, they also raise a fundamental question about the survival of our species, in the video “Elon Musk’s Final Warning About AI: Should We Create a Digital Superintelligence?“, below:
Nick Bostrom, Director of Future of Humanity Institute, helps us to better understand superintelligence and the future of AI, in the video “Nick Bostrom on Superintelligence and the Future of AI“, below:
Nick Bostrom believes that there will be intelligence explosion within short period of time, from something moderately affecting the world to something that will hugely transform the world. He believes that all the plausible paths to a really great future involve the development of machine superintelligence at some point. However, there are existential risks connected with the transition to the machine intelligence era. The most obvious risks would be the underlying super intelligence overriding the earth, human civilization with its own value structures or that this technology were used for destructive purposes. Finally the less obvious risk is how good the outcome will be for the AI stem cells: how to ensure that these digital minds with consciousness and/or moral status of certain degrees will be treated well.
Artificial Intelligence or AI is transforming our society and impacting our day to day lives in many areas. AI and automation in general will probably continue to improve and change our way of living in many ways. But the challenges with artificial intelligence systems are unique, and the risks involved in AI cannot be overstated. One such pressing issue that is already manifesting itself today, is the use of artificial intelligence in the creation of LAWs… And they are not what you may think! In the context of AI, LAWs, stands short for Lethal Autonomous Weapons. It is rather an unfortunate and confusing acronym but also goes by with many not so popular names such as: Robotic weapons, autonomous weapon systems, killer robots, slaughter-bots, etc. They are autonomous military systems that can independently search for and engage targets without human intervention…in the video “How Artificial Intelligence is Making LAWs- They’re Not What You Think!“, below:
He tried to warn us, but nobody listened. Now, he believes, “If you can’t beat it, then join it.” In the video “Elon Musk AI Movie Trailer“, below:
It is not the first time Musk has made frightening predictions about the potential of artificial intelligence — he has, for example, called AI vastly more dangerous than North Korea — and he has previously called for regulatory oversight, in the video “Elon Musk on Artificial Intelligence“, below:
Musk believes that the danger of AI is much more serious than nuclear weapons, and therefore really needs regulations and careful considerations.
Musk’s advice to 139 governments during the World Government Summit:
- Pay close attention to the development of A.I.
- Be sure that the researches do not get carried away
- What to do about mass unemployment-Universal Basic Income will become necessary
- Abundance will result from automation & every thing will become very cheap
- How do people have meaning?
- How to insure that the future will be the future we want/like
Is Neuralink trying to take over humans by using Artificial Intelligence? SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk used a rare live event to release several updates about his other startup, Neuralink, which is trying to build an interface between human brains and computers. Basically using Artificial Intelligence. Musk is stretched thin, but he’s also delivered on key promises like producing compelling electric vehicles and lowering satellite launch costs. Musk has a knack for picking business problems that are difficult but attainable. To succeed, though, Neuralink will have to convince scientists and doctors along with the rest of us, in the video “Neuralink Reveals Shocking Truth About Artificial Intelligence“, below:
