This is a quick announcement to let you know that the new book, I Did Not Miss The Boat: Memoir of a Vietnam Hoa Refuge, by Lea Tran, is FREE to read, available on Kindle Unlimited, between Sep. 3-5 (midnight), 2020, at Kindle Unlimited.
Lea Tran is a vivacious Central Floridian woman who was inspired by Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings to tell her story. In nineteen chapters of I Did Not Miss The Boat, Ms. Tran took her readers through the journey of an adolescent Chinese-Vietnamese girl in search of her identity through: growing up in an unstable society, Vietnam War, escape from Vietnam (boat journey, Letung Island, Air Raya Island, Galang, Pinang, Singapore), and finally arriving in America, with a different set of challenges for a refugee immigrant trying to adapt in a new multicultural world. Throughout her journey, despite the danger, pain, or uncertainty she had to face, the strength of the human spirit prevailed. Ms. Tran reminds us all that no matter how difficult or dire one’s situation may seem, one always have the power to navigate through if one would hold onto faith and hope.
In January 2019, Lea Tran shared the harrowing journey her family took to reach the United States and hurdles she had to overcome to find her voice, at TEDxEustis, in the video “I did not Miss the Boat, Lea Tran, TEDxEustis“, below:
