We just don’t know.” Are we creating the instruments of our own destruction or exciting tools for our future survival? Once we teach a machine to learn on its own—as the programmers behind AlphaGo have done, to wondrous results—where do we draw moral and computational lines? In this program, leading specialists in A.I., neuroscience, and philosophy tackle the very questions that may define the future of humanity. Discussion on this topic is participated by: Yann LeCun, Susan Schneider, Max Tegmark, Peter Ulric Tse with moderator Tim Urban, in the video “Will Self-Taught, A.I. So, whether or not you are a carbon chauvinist would determine how you may anticipate or evaluate the future of our world. The idea of unsupervised learning as necessary in leading to creativity is discussed. Artistic creation by A.I. in the form of sketch and screenplay are presented. At present, we do not know what principles the intelligent machines at the level of human intelligence will be based on. Among human, intelligence to take over (for power) is not necessarily correlated with intelligence. Nevertheless, artificial general intelligence (AGI) may provide power and may supersede human. The state of consciousness need to be further investigated and understood. Artificial intelligence and artificial consciousness need to be better understood. Finally, all participants agreed that AGI security or government oversight needs to be in place and the possibility of integration between human and AI exists in the future.
