Today, Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, who is overseeing the impeachment inquiry, told reporters that an impeachment case is building against President Trump. Chairman Schiff said, “We are getting an increasing appreciation for just what took place during the course of the last year, and the degree to which the president enlisted whole departments of government in the illicit aim to get Ukraine to dig up dirt on a political opponent.”
Congressional Democrats have announced the first public hearings of three key witnesses will take begin next week in an inquiry that may seek to remove President Donald Trump from office. The Capitol Hill hearings will be broadcast live, with both Democratic and Republican lawmakers questioning witnesses. It will begin with testimony from Ambassador William (Bill) Taylor and Ambassador George P. Kent on Wednesday and Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch on Friday. These open hearings will be an opportunity for the American people to evaluate the witnesses for themselves, to determine the credibility of these witnesses, and to learn first hand about the facts of president’s misconducts.
Ambassador William (Bill) Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, raised alarms in internal messages about holding up U.S. military aid. Taylor testified last month that he was told that U.S. security military aid to Ukraine was contingent on Kiev putting out a statement that they were investigating the Bidens and the 2016 election. His statement was buttressed on Tuesday by ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland, who testified that he personally told a top Ukrainian official the aid was likely contingent on a public statement about investigating corruption. Ambassador George P. Kent, top State Department official for Ukraine, testified that he was out of the look on alleged pressure campaign. He also said he raised warnings about Hunter Biden‘s work for Ukrainian gas firm.
Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, was pushed out of her post after a campaign to undermine her by Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani. Yavanovitch testified in private that she was never told why she was removed from her post.
