On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, President Donald Trump abruptly announced, in a tweet, that he has asked national security adviser John Bolton to resign. The tweet came only one hour after the White House press office said that Bolton was scheduled to appear at a Tuesday press briefing along with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin.
