An excerpt from Wikipedia, about Hurricane Dorian, in italics, below:
Hurricane Dorian is an active tropical cyclone currently threatening the Bahamas and the Southeastern United States. The fourth named storm and second hurricane of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season, Dorian developed from a tropical wave in the Central Atlantic. The storm formed as a tropical depression on August 24th and developed into a Category 1 hurricane by the afternoon of August 28th.
From August 26–28, the storm affected Caribbean nations and territories devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. Extensive precautionary measures were taken to mitigate damage, especially in Puerto Rico. One person died in Puerto Rico while preparing his home for the storm. Damaging winds primarily affected the Virgin Islands where gusts reached 111 mph (179 km/h). Overall effects in these regions were relatively minor, however.
Hurricane Dorian hurtled toward the United States and was on track to become a major hurricane Friday before its expected landfall Monday along Florida’s east coast, forecasters say, in the video “Florida Governor Ron DeSantis holds new conference ahead of Hurricane Dorian (LIVE), USA Today“, below:
A camera on the International Space Station captured Hurricane Dorian as it bears down on the Bahamas and the southeast coast of the U.S. in the video “View of Hurricane Dorian from Space“, below:
