YANG ANNOUNCES DEMOCRACY REFORM POLICY
NEW YORK — Today, presidential candidate Andrew Yang released “Restoring Democracy, Rebuilding Trust,” a comprehensive policy aimed to improve and restore confidence in the United States elections process and federal government as a whole.
The policy focuses on reformative proposals such as Democracy Dollars, ending Citizens United, and appointing a White House psychologist.
Yang’s proposal is a response to dismal Congressional approval and government efficiency ratings. Americans are not only dissatisfied with the general operations of the federal government, they yearn for a stronger voice in U.S. elections and to see elected officials represent their constituents — not just special interests.
“There are very few institutions in which a majority of Americans have a great deal of confidence. This is leading to the dissolution of our communal bonds, and it must change, or our country will continue to crumble. This change has to start from the top.” – Andrew Yang
The central points of “Restoring Democracy, Rebuilding Trust” are as follows:
- Rebuilding Trust in Our Elections
- End the political “revolving door” and Citizens United
- Promote public funding of elections through Democracy Dollars
- Rebuilding Trust in Our Government
- The Executive Branch
- Pledge to divest from personal and business interests and disclose tax returns
- Appoint a White House psychologist and require appointments for all Executive staffers
- Regard Hatch Act violations seriously
- Congress
- Press for filibuster reform and an amendment to create term limits
- Create a database for all committee and floor votes
- The Supreme Court
- Push for a Code of Ethics for Supreme Court Justices
- Advocate for 18-year term limits, appointing a new Justice every other year
- Working Federal Government
- Meet monthly with Congressional leadership from both parties
- Push for the reformation of the Office of Technology Assessment
- Bar the use of taxpayer money for the settlement of sexual harassment lawsuits
- The Executive Branch
- A Presidential Pledge
- A promise to appoint individuals with relevant experience to Executive Branch positions

Andrew Yang isn’t a politician. He’s an entrepreneur who knows how the economy works—and he’s terrified about the growing automation of American jobs. That’s why he’s running for President as a Democrat in 2020. America has lost its direction, and it’s time we put humanity first. Andrew wants to get America back on track—to be a nation of opportunity, freedom, equality, and abundance. It all starts with the Freedom Dividend, $1,000/month for every American adult over the age 18, no strings attached, in the video “Restoring Democracy, Andrew Yang Town Hall with Lawrence Lessig“, below:
