Merger of biotech and information enables human to be hacked. How we can hack ourselves are discussed in the video above: lots of data and computing power are needed.
Harari also brought up the concept of outsourcing the process of self-exploration in the video above.
Mark Zuckerberg hosts Yuval Noah Harari for a frank conversation about some big challenges — as part of the Facebook CEO’s 2019 series of public discussions about the future of technology in society. The overarching question they debate is: what are we going to do about the systemic problems of the current technological revolution? In the video “Mark Zuckerberg & Yuval Noah Harari in Conversation“, below:
Watch Yuval Noah Harari speak with Fei-Fei Li, renowned computer scientist and Co-Director of Stanford University’s Human-Centered AI Institute — in a conversation moderated by Nicholas Thompson, WIRED’s Editor-in-Chief. The discussion explores big themes and ideas, including ethics in technology, hacking humans, free will, and how to avoid potential dystopian scenarios, in the video “Fei-Fei Li & Yuval Noah Harari in Conversation-The Coming AI Upheval“, below:
As the speed of AI technology accelerates, cascades of forever grander evolutions will continue to take place. The question of whether the human being would have sufficient intelligence or mental stability to continue to reinvent him or herself will continue to surface. Harari recommends investment into emotional intelligence and mental flexibility in order to continue to adapt. He uses the analogy of: instead of building strong houses, it’s probably more important to build flexible tents. Harari wants to bring clarity to public discussions, focusing people’s attentions on the most important questions. He believes the three big challenges to humankind in the 21st century are: nuclear war, climate change, and technological disruptions. These three items need to be on the top of the political agenda of every country, but currently are not. Multi-level and multi-field exchanging discussions are needed soon.
