President Trump tweeted his approval of the Congressional compromise on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, that would prevent another government shutdown as the deadline, Feb. 15, 2019, of the bill for temporary reopening of the federal government is quickly approaching. Even though the $1.375 billion is far from his proposed $5.7 billion for funding the wall, he is framing the outcome as a political win. A White House official told NBC News on Tuesday that even if Trump signs off on the agreement reached Monday night to keep the government open, other options were on the table to build a more substantial barrier. Senators Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham on Tuesday endorsed the president obtaining funding for his border wall through executive action if necessary.
