I’ve been receiving messages from parents in various parts of the Orange County regarding when should kids go Trick or Treating. Ultimately, it is parents’ decision. There had been alternate events or traditions in different neighborhoods. Most cities or counties do not dictate what hours children can go trick or treating. City or county authorities just want to make sure that your little ghosts, goblins, princesses, or pirates are safe.
This is the music for all the Trick or Treaters coming to our house tonight, below:
But by far, Bach – Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, the very first piece in the video above, won as the most representative of Halloween over all other pieces, below:
In most counties in Central Florida, trick or treating hours may start as early as 5:30 pm til as late as 9:30 pm. Most counties are planning on increasing patrols in anticipation of lots of children taking to the streets in full costumes.
General safety guidelines I’ve gathered, below:
- Trick-or-treat in groups
- Never allow children to visit a door without a trusted adult
- Only approach well-lit homes where porch or exterior lights are on or pumpkin lights are on
- Teach children not to approach vehicles
- Cross streets at the corner. Do not cross diagonally at an intersection. Do not cross between parked cars
- Avoid shortcuts through backyards, alleys, or parks
- Eat only factory-wrapped treats
- Examine all candies for choking hazards or tampering before eating
- Be cautious around pets or animals
- Keep costumes short to avoid falling
- Be sure masks or coverings do not hinder eyesight
- Wear light colored costumes or add reflective tape to dark costumes
- Glow sticks or flashlights would help children’s view
- Report any and all suspicious activities to law enforcement immediately
