It is my pleasure to share a message from our Central Florida climate leader, Chris Castro, in italics, below:
Earlier this year I was contacted by Bloomberg Philanthropies and National Geographic about the work I’ve been doing over the last 12 years in #Orlando to make us one of the cleanest, healthiest, and most sustainable cities in America.
They told me they were filming a documentary that highlights how states, cities, organizations, and individuals were leading the transformation to address #climatechange and #sustainability through local action, and asked me if I would be interested in being on of the main characters for this film. (!?!?!?!)
In March, we filmed for 5 days, including interviews with myself, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Clint Bullock (CEO of OUC – The Reliable One), Edward Johnson (CEO of Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority(LYNX), Clayton Louis Ferrara (CEO of IDEAS For Us), Dr. Harold Wanless (renowned UM professor and forefront leader on sea-level rise research for 40+ years), and many others in the Orlando community pushing for a better future. We also showcased Fleet Farming throughout the film as a solution to urban agriculture that was developed by IDEAS and an innovation that others can emulate around the World.
This December 12th, City of Orlando – Government and our partners will be showcased to the World for our leadership in Florida and the Southeast to address the looming environmental and public health issues of our time.
To everyone who has given a helping hand to move us forward on this issues in Orlando, thank YOU! Whether you’ve come out to volunteer, or donated, or advocated for local policy…this is for Us. This is our opportunity to accelerate our work to the next level and continue to build our momentum.
Check out the trailer and keep a look out for a special movie-screening in early December at a public venue in Orlando. In the mean time, please help me spread the word about our efforts! #GreenWorksOrlando #ideasforus #fleetfarming #ThisisOrlando
