In the coming week, there will be quite a few days when temperature in Central Florida cities will be reaching beyond 90 degrees. So, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind us all to hydrate ourselves. The exact amount of water need vary from person to person, depending on weight and environment. But the general rule of thumb is that daily need of 2 to 4 liters (or 68 to 135 ounces) for active adults is the target range for adequate hydration. Those of us who exercise regularly would tend to have higher water intake because our muscles require more water to function properly and maintain mass. Our bodies work hard to cool in the heat by sweating. Therefore, it is important to replenish the water loss when we sweat to prevent dehydration. Drinking water throughout the day is highly recommended.
It’s often recommended for individuals to drink at least half of our body weight in ounces of water. For example, some one weighing 180 pounds needs to drink at least 90 ounces (about 3 liters) of water per day. Mayo Clinic also recommend women drinking 2.7 liters of water daily and men drinking 3.7 liters of water daily.
Did you know that drinking 5 glasses of water per day would help to lower the risk of a heart attack by 41%? Did. you know that drinking more water would help you to lose weight more easily, to clean out toxins in your body more easily, and to keep you energized throughout the day more easily?
