President Donald Trump hosted a White House ‘Celebration of American‘ (celebration of the flag in place of Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl LII ceremony) on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, after canceling a visit by the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though the White House stated that it was over the national anthem, many believed that it was due to optics of having fewer than 10 people showing up. At least two guests at this event opted to take a knee as the “Star Spangled Banner” rang across the South Lawn of the White House. MSNBC reports on this, below:
After all, great leaders reach for unity and utilize meaningful connections, shared values, and mutual understanding to bring people together. The words and actions of the best leaders unite and uplift rather than divide and separate. Queen Elizabeth II once said, ““I know of no single formula for success. But over the years I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration to work together.”
Finally, it is only in America, where one may find people of different racial groups with strong sense of identity with their/our fellow African American brothers and sisters, under the protection of freedom of speech and expression, and free from fear of dictatorship, that one may find photo such as this at this event.
