Did Trump Bring the Swamp Into the White House?
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
(Please click on red links & note magenta)
Toward the end of last week, there has been reports about federal investigators looking into Jared Kushner‘s business deals with foreigners and whether Kushner had influenced White House policy. Special Counsel Robert Mueller has asked witnesses about Kushner’s effort in securing finance for his family’s real estate deals and Kushner’s talks with people from Qatar, Turkey, Russia, China, and the United Arab Emirates. Kushner’s family real estate company tried to obtain investment of $500,000,000 from Qatar’s investment fund for Kushner family’s New York City property (at 666 Fifth Avenue), but the deal fell through. A month later, Kushner encouraged a blockade of Qatar, according to the Intercept.
Earlier this year, Qatari government officials visited the United States and considered turning information (that they believed demonstrated that their neighbors in the Gulf were coordinating with Kushner to hurt Qatar) over to Mueller, according to NBC news. But these Qatari officials later changed their mind about cooperating with Mueller out of fear that it would further strain Qatar’s relationship with the White House.
Last week, the Washington Post reported that officials from UAE, China, Israel, and Mexico have talked privately about ways to manipulate Kushner, realizing his vulnerability in financial difficulties, lack of foreign policy experience, and his business arrangements.
It certainly appears as though Jared Kushner is attempting to make money off of his connection to the Trump administration. Can Trump administration afford this type of connection? Can the United States of America afford this type of representation overseas? Isn’t this the type of swamp that Trump voters wanted to see vanished? More on Jared Kushner, below:
