What Disney’s Acquisition of Fox Means
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

(Please click on red links & note magenta)
Once again, life imitates fiction. As predicted by The Simpsons 19 years ago that Disney would buy 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company has acquired Twenty-First Century Fox’s film and TV studios, in a deal worth $52.4 billion on December 14, 2017. This deal includes the movie studio 20th Century Fox, TV production of 20th Century Fox Television, Fox-owned cable networks (including FX and, National Geographic), international networks such as Star TV and Sky. This deal will also enable Disney to gain majority control of Hulu. Disney is also taking ownership of Fox’s vast catalog of intellectual property, meaning comic book characters such as X-Men and Fantastic Four have returned to Marvel Studios, allowing the company to “create richer, more complex worlds of inter-related characters and stories,” indicated in Disney’s press release.
Fox is keeping control of the Fox broadcast network, Fox Sports, and the Fox News and Fox Business brands.
